Andrea the red nosed knitter

Hello Blogettes. I hope you are all well and busy crafting.
I've been a little under the weather this week as I have a little cold but am on the road to feeling better now thankfully. Although I do look a little like rudolph the red nose reindeer at the moment which is not great at this time of year, think I'm a few months late for the red nose look lol.
I finished some more knitting this week, another little baby cardigan for Eilys grandaughter. Its made with sirdar calico yarn which is a cotton acrylic mix in a pretty colour but I can't think what colour to call it, ...peach... coral... salmon..... it's pretty, but hard to describe lol.
I also found a pattern for a little knitted teddy online yesterday and just fancied having a go so I got some spare wool and needles out in the afternoon and made one. Its only a basic very easy shape teddy but I'm quite pleased with it as it was easy and fun to knit, I may even end up making more.

Just dance boys

Just thought I'd share this little video of my hubby Paul and our nephew Matt having a little fun tonight on Just dance 2 on the wii. They didn't know I was filming until afterwards but they have given me permission to show it. They were dancing to A-punk byVampire weekend. It gave us all a laugh, hope it does for you too.
Check out Matt with his eminemstyley trouser leg lol

Hello

Well I've been absent from my blog for a little while again.
My sister came down from scotland for a visit for a few days last week which was lovely. Mum, Ali and me went shopping on a couple of days (one of our favourite pastimes) and had a really nice time. Its Ali's birthday soon so it was a good opportunity for mum and I to find something for her birthday pressies. Its always lovely when Ali comes down for a few days and we get chance to go out somewhere as normally we tend to only visit each other overnight and don't get much time for trips out.
This week I've been getting ready to change the jewellery in the shop which stocks some of my jewellery in town. On monday afternoon and evening I made some new pieces to go with some others I made a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday mum and me priced up the pieces I was taking in and did a stock list for myself and Jan and then today I took them all in and swapped them over.
While I was putting out my new items a customer of Jans who was in the shop at the time had a look and was taken with a new bracelet and earrings and bought them. It was a lovely start to my sales which I hope will carry on. Jan paid me for the items she'd sold since I last went in so I now have a little bit more money to buy more beads and findings.
It was a lovely day today, nice and warm and I was a bit surprised when I went out this afternoon. I'd put my mac on thinking it would still be a little cool even though it was sunny but I was so warm especially on the bus. It was a glorious day and I discarded my coat for the trip home I do hope this weather continues, spring has sprung here in barnsley Yay!!!!
Here's mondays makings

I should be cleaning

Hi blogettes. Just a quickie today as I should really be busy cleaning the house and not sitting at the computer blogging etc. I do so hate to clean though so I'm easily distracted. If only someone else would pop in and do it for me while I sit procrastinating but unfortunately they dont. I've just been catching up on your blogs so thought I'd do a quickie on my own as I haven't blogged since monday.
Right so what have I been upto????.......... errrrrrrr well to be honest not too much really. I went to the hairdresser on wednesday for my haircolouring and cutting, I had quite short hair for a while but for the last few months have been trying to grow it into a short bob and its starting to look like one now which is good.
One side falls better than other though as my left ear sticks out a little bit more than my right and has a tendency to poke through my hair on that side making it lay wrong. Maybe I should think about making a headband to wear to bed to stick my ear down more lol.
My mum always says my sisters ears stuck out a little as a baby and so she used to lay her down so she was resting on her ear to flatten it n then swap sides next time to make sure both were flattened back evenly. Well mum you obviously laid me on my right ear a lot more than my left !!!!!!!!!!!
Talking of my mum shes been under the weather this week, last week she started with a funny whurring noise in her ears and then early this week she started with a cold. We popped into see her on wednesday after the hairdressers and again yesterday evening and I put her some drops in her ears which does seem to be making her ears feel better but she still looked rather ill n shattered from her cold bless her. I hope she is feeling much better soon, my sister is coming down from scotland for a visit next week and I know mum will be hoping to be better for then.
Besides my couple of little trips out I've not been upto much, just the usual day to day housework etc and more knitting. I am definately addicted to baby knitting. I restarted the baby blanket I mentioned in my last blog on monday afternoon and finished it on wednesday evening. It was lovely to knit and as I have some wool left I'm going to knit another and give it to a group  my mum sometimes knits for who sell items and give the money to charity.

Chunky knit pram blanket
Last night after we came back from mums I knitted another pair of mary jane bootees, this time in pink.  I wanted something small to knit in an evening so they were perfect. They just need some buttons on now and I can send them off to Eily. Before I start my next blanket I think I might make another little baby cardigan as I have another pattern I want to try and some wool just waiting to be used.
Well thats all for now blogettes I really should go and get on with some cleaning. Happy crafting everbody and have a great weekend x

Knitty weekend

Hi all hope everyone had a good weekend, It was rainy, cold and damp here on Saturday but on Sunday it was lovely and sunny, mind you I didn't really make the most of the nice day as I stayed inside. Tutut Andie you should have gone out and done the garden.!!!.  I stayed in though and did some knitting, not that I have anything to show for my hours clicking away with my needles.
Yesterday afternoon after I'd finished sewing up a cardi/jacket I'd finished knitting on saturday evening I started on a baby blanket. Its a pattern that my friend Eily shared with me for a throw that she is knitting and I have decided to adapt it to a pram blanket size for a baby.
I thought I had worked out the correct amount of stitches I needed to cast on for the width I wanted but I had forgotten that the bottom edge curves up because of the stitch pattern and so makes the width smaller. I knitted away happily for a few hours doing about 40 odd rows but then when I'd done enough to see how it hung properly I decided it was too narrow and pulled it all out. So now I have nothing to show for my hours of knitting!!!! I'm going to start it again today adding another pattern repeat to the width so its wider.
The wool I'm using is a  lovely soft chunky acrylic yarn in a pretty soft greeny colour called eau de nil. The pattern does look nice when its knitted and its quite easy to do and grows quickly with it being in chunky yarn and knitted on 10mm needles.
I'm totally obsessed with baby knitting at the moment, I have a list as long as my arm of things I'd like to knit and quite a few balls of baby wool ready and waiting to be used. Its all Eilys fault because when she realised she was about to be a grandmother for the first time she asked me to knit some baby things for her and well ever since then my interest has been well and truly obsessed with baby things.
So far I've knitted 3 baby cardis, a pram blanket and a pair of mary jane baby shoes. I also knitted two more odd mary janes using two different patterns which I didn't enjoy doing as much as the first pair so they are both still waiting for their partners. I also have some material to make a baby summer dress which I have already made a prototype for and hopefully will be able to make the proper one soon.
This baby sure wont be short of things to wear as Eily has also knitted quite a few things for her, cardis, hats and socks and she's sewn a beautiful cushion and decorative heart for its nursery. We seem to spend a lot of time at the moment sending baby patterns and photos back and forth and discussing what to make next we are well and truly baby obsessed lol.
Well I best go now as my fingers are itching to get started on this pram blanket AGAIN lol. Bye for now bloggettes happy crafting xxxxxxxx

A beady wednesday

Good afternoon Blogettes, hope you are all happy, well and doing lots of crafting. I was busy playing with my beads yesterday and made a few new pieces of jewellery. I haven't added them to my website yet as I think I'll probably take them into the shop that sells some of my pieces first. It's about time I changed the stock there so I'll see about going in some next week to do a swap. I like to change things every couple of months so people aren't looking at the same things all the time. I've decided to keep a few things for myself out of this batch of makes, the goldstone necklace and earrings and one of the black flower rings are going in my own jewellery box.
